Born on December 20, 1990, JoJo grew up in Keene, New Hampshire. Both of her parents being amateur singers, she picked up music from a very early age. She appeared on many TV shows from a very young age. Her first one being Kids Say the Darndest Things: On the Road in Boston. JoJo also performed in the Oprah Winfrey show at the age of 10. Later in 2002, the aspiring singer performed on Maury, another famous talk show.

JoJo and her record label Blackground Records went into legal disputes that resulted in catastrophe in her career. Not only did it delay the release of her third album, but it also cost JoJo her reputation and popularity, which she is yet to recover.
