In her interview with Elle’s Women in Music 2019, Billie had explained that “It makes me mad. I have to wear a big shirt for you not to feel uncomfortable about my boobs!” This had come after her boobs had trended at the No. 1 topic on the bird app, Twitter. The picture had been taken during one of her tour bus rounds. It was deemed just nice to share that kind of photo on social media to the owner’s dismay. According to her, every outlet had written about her “boobs”. Although, the teen artist had laughed it off saying, “I look good in it… I was born with DNA that was going to give me big ass boobs.”
Also, Billie Eilish had given her stand on the issue of body shaming, after clarifying the issue of her baggy clothing as a means to avoid being sexualized. On this issue, she purposefully took off the clothes she had on until she was left with her bra as the only piece of upper clothing. This was done to prove her point as she addressed the issue of sexism and body-shaming in a short video. As BBC noted, the singer had released the video during a concert tour in Miami and had mentioned in the video that, “If I what I wear is comfortable, I am not a woman, if I shed my layers, I am slut”. For this, she isn’t so wrong as it is evident that the internet audience would always have opinions about actions taken by their favorite artists. She further said, “If I wear more, if I wear less, who decides what that makes me? Is my value-based only on your perception, or is your opinion of me, not my responsibility”. Billie encouraged and warned against being so quick to make assumptions about people, based on their size. She has also cleared the air about why her baggy outfits should not be the reason why people would decide to slut-shame other girls, simply because they want to dress as it suits them.

In the same interview, the singer cum songwriter had also dropped a short notice about a possible change from her signature style. Furthermore, she had a mental note of caution for her viewers and fans that would be quick to judge her change, saying “I know what people will say, I’ve lost all respect for her.” Despite knowing what the outcome of her intended actions might be, in relation to past experiences, Billie had stood her ground as she was more concerned about her self-esteem than pleasing people, “What if I wanna make a video where I wanna look desirable? … I’m gonna be a woman, I’m gonna show my body.” She had also confirmed that she knew it would be a huge thing.
Regardless of anyone’s opinion, however, the “Bellyache” singer had said, “I have too much love for myself, I don’t need to see all these opinions”. This was after she took control of her thinking and deleted Twitter, as she shared with Elle’s, “I was in Europe, in one of the worst headspaces I’ve been in. That’s when I realized… There are so many things I can’t stop, but I can delete Twitter.” Billie Eilish proved that even though she cannot control the level of unsolicited opinions that she gets from online folks, the least she could do for herself was to be act indifferent to it. A year later in 2024, Billie Eilish got into another internet fix regarding the topic of ‘boobs’. This had come after she took part in a trending challenge on Instagram. The challenge involved users answering questions on their Instagram stories through photos. According to Papermag, she had received a prompt to post a drawing that she was extremely proud of. Well, the “Bad Guy” Crooner had gone on to send two pictures that shook her fan base. The pictures included one which has some sketches of breasts, butts, and nipples. The other picture didn’t have much difference – a screenshot of her lock screen which was a picture of a nude woman. Her honest response was clearly not good enough for her followers as her count dropped from 73 million to 72.9 million.
