Top Best Songs of Billie Eilish!
1. Bad Guy
“Bad Guy” single was released as the lead track and the fifth single on her debut studio album, When We All Fall Sleep, Where Do We Go? On its release in March 2019, the single made its debut chart listing at No. 7 on Billboard Hot 100, before moving all the way up to the apex No. 1 position on Billboard Hot 100. Listening to the lines of the song, you cannot but the sensational surreal voice that sings out the lyrics. As always, there are different speculations attached to what the lyrics in “Bad Guy” mean in terms of a macho boyfriend or being in a seemingly aggressive relationship.
However, the single has quite a deeper meaning to it, as the singer explained in her 2019 Rolling Stone interview that “Bad Guy” makes a point to address people’s attitude of trying to be what they are not. At the interview, the award-winning singer said, “So the idea is kind of like you’re a tough guy, you gotta tell everyone that you’re a tough, you’re this and you’re this… Okay. If you’re gonna be that, then I’m gonna be all types of fake too… I’m the bad type, I’m the Make your mom a sad type. might seduce your dad type which I’m not that. But if you can be fake with everyone and try to prove that you are something that you’re not, then I can do it too.”
While Billie must have thought the chart-topping song would do well in sales like every good musician, we bet the “Bad Guy” blew up beyond what she expected. The song did not only win her Grammys, the singer also got named Billboard’s first Artist born in the 2000s to hit a No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart for the “Bad Guy” single among other outstanding records.
2. Lovely
Billie collaborates with Khalid to sing about the love that’s ‘never going away’. Ironically, the song title has little relation with its content. Naturally, the lyrics give you an idea of love gone sour and the need to escape it, but it seems that it would not even budge. Catch the irony of music in the chorus as they both unite to sing how lovely it is to be “all alone, a heart made of stone, tear me to pieces, skin to bone…”
In reality, the song isn’t actually about love as the song title was described, according to Billie in an interview with Beats 1 Radio, as “really freaking depressing, so then it’s like oh how lovely, just taking everything horrible like you know what, this is great, I’m so happy being miserable.”
“Lovely” is one of the few collaboration songs that Billie made with another artist besides her co-writer and producer, Finneas, with all three of them writing the song. The trio recorded considerable success as the song was certified platinum twice by the RIAA, while it made it to No. 5 in the Australia ARIA Chart, with a 6-time platinum certification. The song was also made the accompanying soundtrack for the 13 Reasons Why Netflix series.
3. Everything I Wanted
Billie released another Grammy Award Winning and 3-times Platinum-certified single in November 2019 titled, “Everything I Wanted.” In this single, the lyrics of this song give off a tone of despair as Billie sings about the weight of her unexpected fame and the personal struggles that accompany it. Singing on, Billie describes a terrible dream that she had, one in which no one cared about saving her as she tried to take her own life. Gratefully, she woke up from the nightmare to see an ever-ready companion who promises to be around for her.
Billie Eilish shed more light on the song as explained in her interview with Annie Mac of BBC Radio 1 “that whole song is about me and Finneas relationship as siblings… my brother is my best friend… and no matter what happens. he’s gonna always be there for me…” “Everything I Wanted” was not just personal for the singer, it gives off a frightening realization of how lonely one can be even though it seems you have everything you ever wanted already. Therefore, the huge commercial success that the heartfelt song received was worth it, as it gave Billie another top 10 Hit at No. 8 on Billboard Hot 100 and went to top the charts in several other countries including Estonia, Ireland, and Norway among others.
4. Happier Than Ever
After the release of her debut album in 2019, a sophomore album by the teenage pop sensation, Happier Than Ever arrived in July 2024 with its sixth and last single on the album, “Happier Than Ever” — expressed the singer’s relief at being free from a person who is believed to her boyfriend at the time, Q Adams.
Billie did not talk about the song addressing a particular person, however, explained that there is “nothing specific that they did. You’re just not happy with them…I had wanted to get those screams out for a long time and it was very nice to.” This is according to her words on The World’s A Little Blurry documentary. Knowing how real Billie’s songs can be, you can say that she really is happier than ever to be free of whatever kind of relationship she was singing about. The song was got an amazing reception as it made it No. 1 on US Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs.

5. Bellyache
Billie’s third single, “Bellyache” was released in February 2017. Guilt, laced with confusion, and fear are words that can be used to describe the lines of the song. The “Bad Guy” singer and her brother, Finneas give us the picture of the aftermath of a murder act by someone who can only question, “Where’s my mind” after committing the crime. Speaking with LadyGunn in 2017, Billy describes Bellyache as “a flat-out song about murder.”
She also gives in more insight into her inspiration regarding the song, “The song is really about doing terrible things and not really knowing why … you’re doing these terrible things and then you’re like … Wait, what am I doing? Why did I just do that?” It is fascinating that Billie Eilish could make up a song with that manner of scenario and connects it with real-life experiences that everyone can resonate with. The single received platinum certifications from more than two countries including the US and Australia.
6. Ocean Eyes
Here’s the very first song by your favorite teen pop star, Billie Eilish O’Connell — “Ocean Eyes.” After its first release on Soundcloud in 2015, it was released again in 2016 as Billie’s debut single. Being the first song, “Ocean Eyes” did incredibly well on the charts, as it made its first Billboard appearance on Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.
For a song that went viral enough for it to make her gain recognition as a teen star, you would find it interesting to see what Billie has to say about its background to TeenVogue, “We put it on Soundcloud with a free download link next to it so that my dance teacher could access it…Hillydaily, a music website, found it and posted it and it just got bigger and bigger.” Imagine the overnight success that came for the 13-year-old girl who was not even looking forward to the blast that came with the song. The love song remains one of Billie’s best songs and has received multiple platinum certifications from the RIAA.
7. When the Party’s Over
Clearly written and sang to portray a perpetually unstable love life between partners, “When the Party’s Over” was released in October 2018 as the second single on Billie’s debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? While the lyrics must have sounded sad, and accompanied with a music video that leaves you feeling surreal as black liquid rolls down her face in form of tears, Billie says the song isn’t meant to be a sad song, actually but rather, a pressing need to leave the unhealthy space.
To explain what she means, she told Coup de main in 2018, “It’s still like breaking up with someone.” She said, “…I feel like everybody’s had that struggle with someone – somebody on the phone yelling for some reason… and you’re just like, You know what? ‘Fucking leave me alone’… It’s like, I’ll call you when the party’s over.” You can trust Billie to make great songs that easily resonate with the listener in some way. The music video for the song has received over 700 million views and 11 million likes on YouTube, after receiving a Clio Award for musical excellence in 2018.
8. All the Good Girls Go to Hell
“All the Good Girls Go To Hell” is one of the hit tracks on Billie’s debut album. Billie sings about how her “Lucifer is lonely,” “Saint Peter’s vacation” as an “open invitation,” “the pearly gates” and this just leaves you with a vague idea of what the song is about. Naturally, you have to believe that you’re listening to a song about heaven and hell. However, Billie had other thoughts in mind when she was preparing the song alongside Finneas. Contrary to popular interpretation, the song is actually in reference to the deteriorating world climate.
Finneas explains in an interview with MTV that they figured it would be great if they could write something about how God feels looking down at Earth and watching the mess humans have made of it. With Vulture, he points out that the song is “about the idea that humans have made such a mess of this planet that they’re both talking to each other like, what’s going on?” Clearly, that precipitated the outstanding music performance that they came up with in “All the Good Girls Go To Hell.”
With its horrific and fiery visuals, it’s of little surprise that the song got nominated at the MTV Music Awards for Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, and Video For Good awards. Although the song did not win any, the nominations were definitely worth the creativity displayed in the music video.

9. Idontwanttobeyouanymore
Ever had to look in the mirror and tell that someone staring back at you that Hey, I don’t want to be you anymore? While Billie Eilish makes songs to address a general concern that a lot of people can relate with, the blond artist also bares and allows her feelings to blurt out through the words of her songs.”Idontwanttobeyouanymore” is one of such songs.
Apparently, the poor teenage girl had been so overwhelmed by the realities of being in the spotlight and she just wanted none of it anymore. Her own review of the song with Genius‘, is even more saddening than the song itself. Billie says, “Even though I have a great life with wonderful things in it, I have still dealt with depression …The real truth is that depression can happen to anyone no matter who you are, or what you have …Idontwanttobeyouanymore is about times I’ve felt this way.”
Gladly, the song got an appearance on the Billboard, peaking at No. 96 on Billboard Hot 100. It also was soothing to realize that fans were empathetic and concerned for Billie’s state of mind. The song is one of the top 15 most popular songs by Billie Eilish.
10. Your Power
‘Your Power’ is one of the 2024 single releases for Billie’s recent album, Happier Than Ever. In this song, It’s just the singer and her acoustic guitar in the center of attention as she takes a swipe at people who tend to exploit the weaker people that they are with. According to the lyrics, the stronger abusive lover doesn’t even care about the consequences of his actions, “you ruined her and you don’t act like it was hard.”
Being a song Billie holds special, she puts a call out to abusers to cease the unfair act and make better use of their power. According to her words on Instagram, “I feel very vulnerable putting this one out because I hold it close to my heart… I hope this can inspire change.”
Written by Billie, “Your Power” debuted at number 10 on US Billboard’s Hot 100 in its first week and made it to No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot and Rock Alternative Songs. Later in September 2024, the single won Billie an award at the MTV Music Awards.
Top Worst Songs of Billie Eilish!
11. Copycat
“Copycat” is the fourth single released for Don’t Smile At Me and also stands as the EP’s first track. Pretty straightforward, Billie sings about a person who’s clearly got no other thing doing but to keep copying her every move. In her interview with Genius, Billie explains the inspiration behind the song “Basically people just do a lot of the same shit I do and I’m just like, can you not? Like, I already exist, so why would you just wanna? …It’s so weird.” Referring to the copycat as a ‘clone’, Billie hopes the person listens to the song and can make amends for not being themselves.
Copycat comes up as one of Billie’s worst songs for this list. Being the first song on the tracklist for Don’t Smile At Me, the song did not perform as excellently as one would expect it to. Also, while the song is indisputably one of the most popular, the single only made it to Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 at No. 12, not even making it to Billboard Hot 100.
12. Therefore I am
At first contact, the single comes out clear enough as a self-esteem song and a move to shut busybodies up. However, Billie doesn’t give a concise response as she said, “This song is very very up for interpretation…just joking…the song feels just kinda careless and not really trying.”
“Therefore I Am” debuted way down the chart at No. 94 on Billboard Hot 100 and had a massive rose to the top as it landed at No. 2. The song also had a similar level of success as a chart-topper in countries like Austria, Germany, Italy, Denmark, and others, while it also made a No. 2 in the United Kingdom. However, with no particular meaning attached to it or connection to anything concise, “Therefore I Am” also makes it to our list of Billie’s worst songs list even though it remains a popular song.

13. Lost Cause
Released in June 2024, “Lost Cause” is one of the singles on Happier Than Ever, Billie’s latest album. Basically, “Lost Cause” represents an ex who Billie spites and sings on about the many things that he just couldn”t meet up with, “And I know you sent you flowers, Did you even care?” “Thought you had your shit together, But damn, I was wrong.” In fact, the guy has got no job! Well, Billie says he’s a lost cause.
As popular as “Lost Cause” is, the song has very low chart performances, debuting at No. 24 on its first release. With its second release in the Happier Than Ever album, the song falls way below at No. 84 on Billboard Hot 100 and at No. 125th on Billboard’s Global 200 chart. The song didn’t do so well. Moreover, the music video for “Lost Cause” earned a bit of public disapproval, as it was said to be supportive of LGBTQ.
14. You Should See Me in a Crown
Imitating Jim Moriarty, an antagonist character in the Sherlock TV show, Eilish takes the role of a queen, ready to rule according to her wish and singing a Moriarty’s line from the show, “You should see me in a Crown.” Speaking at one of Billboard’s How It Went Down weekly episodes, Billie explains where the song originated and that she simply chose it because it was “dope.”
With Billie Eilish smiling and being so relaxed about loving some of the lines because they are downright scary and are capable of freaking her out, you have to wonder if it’ll be the same for others who listen to the song. Anyway, that’s the goal, Like she says, “I just want it to sound like… fucking scary. So terrifying.” So, if you’ve ever felt goosebumps rise on your skin while listening to the song, you now know that’s the effect the songwriters and singer wanted.
The song is quite captivating at first. However, the vibes are not too nice. Even so, for a song as popular as “You should see me in a Crown,” it didn’t do so well in its chart listings, with a position way down at No. 41 on Billboard Hot 100.
15. NDA
“NDA” is of one Billie’s personal songs about her struggles with fame. From being stalked to having to take measures for her privacy to no avail, the music crooner sang on about how her experiences of having to make a “pretty boy,” presumably her lover, sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to keep their relations private.
Alongside her brother, Billie Eilish had carefully made the song and on its release, she referred to it as “fulfilling,” in her interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music in July.
However, the audience reception for the video wasn’t too good. Although it made No. 3 on US Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, NDA wasn’t much of a hit as it did not even make the top 10 on Billboard Hot 100 but instead, it made No. 39. For an artist of Billie’s caliber, the performance is on the low side.
