Hosted by the Utah Valley Home Builders Association, the 2016 Utah Valley Parade of Homes will open 40 brand new homes for display on June 2, continuing a long tradition of displaying beautifully crafted homes to the Utah Valley community.

The UVHBA is also continuing a long tradition of using their resources and funds to serve the local community. The association, along with its members, teams up with many service organizations and other affiliates throughout the year to participate in a variety of service projects, benefiting individuals and the community.

For the past nine years, homebuilders and members of the UVHBA have donated their time, labor and resources towards building a home appointed as the ‘Cougar House.’ Once completed, this home is sold to a family and all of its proceeds are donated as a scholarship for a BYU student.

This year, the UVHBA is expanding these efforts to include their first ‘Wolverine House’ for the benefit of UVU students.

“When we hold large events like the Parade of Homes and charge for tickets, people often wonder where the money goes,” said UVHBA Executive Officer Steve Caldwell. “Well, it goes right back into the community through scholarship funds, service projects and in other efforts.”

UVHBA also distributes scholarships to construction management majors at BYU, UVU and Snow College. They often work with the Habitat for Humanity on local projects, in addition to participating in Subcontractors for Santa each Christmas.

“We also do small projects with our members and individuals,” said Amber Hutchings, Director of Events for the UVHBA. “People just know that they can come to us because we’ve developed a reputation for giving back.”

The 2016 Parade of Homes is open from June 2 through June 18. During the two-week Parade, attendees can visit any of the homes between noon and 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
