Les Olson Company, one of the largest independent document solutions dealers in the nation, is pleased to announce Troy Olson as its new president, effective January 1, 2012.
As a 32-year veteran and third-generation owner of the company, Troy takes over this position at the family business from his father, Larry Olson, a second-generation owner who is stepping down after 51-years of service at the age of 67.
In his new position, Troy will assist the company Chairman of the Board and CEO, Jim Olson in overseeing all operations at the company’s seven branch locations from Logan, Utah to Las Vegas, Nevada, with his main focus being a continued emphasis on increasing sales companywide.
“Troy is a seasoned salesperson and a respected expert within the Document Management Solutions industry who has contributed significantly to the overall growth and success of Les Olson Company throughout his career,” said Jim.
“It is exciting to see a third-generation family member stepping up to fill these shoes in our family business. He certainly has the experience and skills to do the job, and I know his grandfather, Les would be very proud to see the company leadership transitioning this way into the next generation.”
From his beginning days at the family business as a file clerk, Troy has always demonstrated a passion and love for the family business. He has worked in many areas of the company, especially excelling in sales.
He is a master of product demonstration and is known throughout the industry for his technological savvy and acumen in business matters. He was instrumental in expanding the company’s product and service offerings for its customers as he negotiated and established their recent partnership with HP.
In addition to his duties as president, Troy is a shareholder and member of the Board of Directors. Currently, he represents seven western states on the Sharp Dealer Advisory Council as the Council’s Co-Chairman, overseeing the Product Development Sub-Committee.
He also dedicates much of his time to sharing his knowledge and experience with the local communities as he serves as a Board member and as Golf Committee Chairman for AMICUS/Intermountain Research and Medical Foundation and on the Board of Governors for the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce.
When he’s not spending time with his family or selling the company’s award-winning SHARP and HP equipment and supplies, Troy is running the trails of the Wasatch Mountains.
An avid endurance runner, Troy has completed several 100-mile mountain trails runs, as well as countless marathons and 50-mile races. In fact, his passion for running was highlighted at the 2010 Wasatch Front 100 Mile Endurance Run when he received the coveted “Spirit of the Wasatch” award in recognition of his commitment and participation in the event year after year.
Commenting on his new role, Troy said, “It’s an honor to serve in the family business in this capacity. I had the privilege of working with my grandparents, Les and Reva who founded the business, for many years of my career, and I am humbled to play a part in continuing the family legacy.
I intend to put all the experience I have gained during my time working in various positions throughout the company to good use. I’m also looking forward to continuing to work side by side with our other outstanding leaders and great employees to keep the company growing and moving forward into the future.”
