1. The Weeknd

The Weeknd is famous for his unique music-making abilities and experiments in the R&B and pop genres. 2. Khalid

Khalid is one of the most talented musicians of our time. From a very young age, he has proven that he has come into the industry to achieve some significant deals and so far he is on track. Khalid’s career officially began with his debut album American Teen, which garnered a lot of public attention. Khalid specializes in R&B and Pop, and on some occasions, he has shown his magic in hip hop too. A couple of songs from his first album were certified double platinum which worked as a boost to get close to musicians such as Benny Blanco and Halsey. Together with them, the young artist recorded “Eastside” in 2018. This was Khalid’s first time in the Billboard Hot 100 top-10 position along with his other single “Love Lies”, which he released in collaboration with Normani. His second album was a massive hit and captured the first position on the Billboard 200 chart. He entered the music business with a bang, his debut single “Run It!” made him the first male artist in eight years to get on top of the Billboard Hot 100. Since then, he has released nine albums and has sold over 140 million records globally. Very few R&B artists of current times have reached Chris’s caliber. Some of his most successful albums are F.A.M.E, Fortune, Heartbreak on a Full Moon—the latter one is a gold-certified album while the other two opened atop the Billboard 200.

This man is truly a legend. He has done everything you can imagine and more in music. He is one of the 16 black artists to win Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. John has won 11 Grammy Awards, a Hal David Straight Award, a Golden Globe Award, the list of his accomplishments is truly endless. To talk about his music, he is one of the most talented musicians of our generation and possibly of all time. His single “All of Me” has got around 2 billion views on YouTube. Aside from being a phenomenal singer, he is a brave human being too. He stood up against sexual abuse, donated millions in charity amongst so many other things.

5. Giveon

Giveon is probably the next best thing in R&B music. His career officially started as early as 2024 as he was featured on Blake’s “Chicago Freestyle”. After the song brought him some attention, he released his first EP named Take Time. It became so popular and well-received that no one deserved the Grammy Nomination more than Giveon. Not only the nomination but his song also made it to the Top R&B albums chart. The single “Heartbreak Anniversary” from the same EP was certified Platinum by the RIAA. Following his success in 2024, Justin Bieber brought him in for his song “Preaches” which was released in 2024. The single was a massive success as it got to the top of Billboard Global 200 and the Hot 100 chart. The young singer sure has a long career forward.

6. Daniel Caesar

Daniel’s story of growing up and pursuing music should be a source of inspiration for aspiring artists. Belonging from a religious family, his character formation comprised the Christian values and dictated him to walk on the path of god. However, his love for music and circumstance brought him to the life of a musician. Though he was struggling in the beginning, after releasing two EPs, he got the recognition he needed. Daniel’s second EP Pilgrim’s Paradise got included in Rolling Stone’s R&B albums list. The road from there was straightforward and as he continued to walk his first Grammy met him for his debut album Freudian’s single “Best Part”. Today, Daniel Caesar is a fairly popular R&B musician with his unique voice and creativity.

7. Lucky Daye

Luck Daye is another rising R&B star in the industry with some serious potentials. He first came into the limelight with his debut EP I. Bedore signing the RCA records, he was writing songs and working as a background vocalist for years. Finally, when he got his first break—he was all in. Within a year he released two EPs which led him to four Grammy nominations for his debut album Painted. He released another EP in 2024 named Table for Two.

8. Ty Dolla Sign

Ty Dolla Sign is a famous songwriter and musician in the industry. Before starting his singing career, he was mostly known for his writer credits infamous songs. He wrote for various artists like Chris Brown, Rihanna, Fifth Harmony, Nicki Minaj and so many more. As he signed Taylor Gang Records in 2015, his debut album Free TC came out. It was a massive success as the album ranked 14 in the Billboard 200. In 2024, he released his third album Featuring Ty Dolla Sign, it came after the success of Beach House 3. For his album, he featured several superstar musicians including Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and Skrillex.

9. Elijah Blake

Elijah was a talented teen when he signed Atlantic Records to work with Trey Songz. Beginning as a songwriter, like many R&B artists on our list. He wrote for Usher, Rick Ross, Rihanna, and many other artists. Elijah finally released his mixtape Bijoux 22 in 2012. Though he hasn’t seen a sudden spike in his performance graph, he has been consistent with his craft. His first EP came out in 2014 named Drift. Since then, Elijah has released multiple singles and EPs. Some of his best-performing EPs are Shadows & Diamonds, Blueberry Vapors, Audiology, 1990 Forever.

10. Trey Songz

Trey Songz is a familiar name in the R&B space for years now. When he started out, Atlantic Records picked him up and launched his first album in 2005. Slowly and steadily he has established himself as a singer and star in the music industry. His first Billboard Hot 100 top 10 single came from his third album Ready. He also got his Grammy Nomination for the same song, “Say Ah”. Trey’s first Billboard 200 chart-topping album was Chapter V in 2012. He has released eight albums so far, the last one being Back Home, released in 2024 it is one of his best albums so far. Listening to Trey’s songs is a delight; if you’re into R&B, it’s a must-have.
