The young ones remain with the parent for 4 months to 1 year. The varage lifespan of the species is 30 to 50 years or more in the wild. It prefers to thrive in all trees and palms of swamps, forests, and near rivers

Indigo Buntings can grow upto 11.5 to 13 cm in length where both males and female are different in colouration.
